New Year - New Decisions

It's a new year! It's 2012 and much has changed. In 2011 we welcomed Finnegan to the family, my job started expecting me to work more hours and be on the road more, and we are leading a Boy Scout troop & Girl Scout troop. It's getting harder to keep up with our homeschool schedule.

Looks like we need a simpler approach to homeschool. I am thinking about trying out an online course. I need something that the older kids can do on their own but will challenge and keep them interested in learning. It also needs to be affordable.

Guess my online journey into homeschool begins today! Wish me luck!

Time Article about Haiti Breastmilk Donations

Unfortunately there are no adequate places to store breast milk in Haiti so they have asked women to stop donating for the moment. Here is the story in Time Magazine: http://www.time.com/time/specials/packages/article/0,28804,1953379_1953494_1957614,00.html

A Day for Goats

Our Girl Scout Troop took a field trip to a local Goat Farm today. Wesmar Farms is located in Moreauville, LA and is a great place to get soap, cheese and more all made from goats milk. The girls had lots of fun playing with the baby goats, and even learned some great info about how the goats are raised and the process behind the products being sold. They were able to taste the milk, different flavors of cheese, and ice cream. A very fun day indeed!

Girls Night

The boys left for a weekend of camping with the Boy Scouts. So, what are the girls to do? Well, we got a free rental from Redbox and spent the evening watching a movie and eating popcorn. We rented "Julie & Julia". Cute movie and very much a chick flick but fun to watch.
